OCH EVENTS

OCH Event Offerings

OC Habitats (OCH) hosts a variety of events throughout the year.  These events range bird lecture series to MPA hikes in the Crystal Cove MPA.  Most of our offerings are outside in nature.  You will find this a refreshing change from your everyday routine of work, school, or everyday life that keeps you indoors and under fluorescent lights.

We plan our events about 3 months out and are always open to suggestions.  We also partner with many other organizations and like to share their events that align with our mission and goals of habitat conservation and species preservation.

OCH Restoration Project

OC Habitats schedules monlty restoration projects around Orange County with a variety of different partners such as Huntington Beach Wetlands Conserancy, Project Grow, and OC Parks.  We are open to all volunteers, 12 and older, and especially like groups from corporations, clubs, and sports teams. We will sign for high school volunteer hours, so bring your paperwork.

We hope to see you out there!  See schedule for the next event!

MPA Hikes & Tidepool Exploration

Marine Protected Area (MPA) Hike is a beautiful hike that begins at Little Corona Beach, heads southeast to Crystal Cove, and ends back at Little Corona Beach.  This is a tide and weather-dependent hike.  OCH requires all participants to be in good health, able to walk over slippery and rough rocks for up to 3 miles, wear closed-toed athletic shoes, and bring their own water and snacks.  Our hikes are led by an experienced guide with knowledge of hiking and the marine habitat.  All participants must be 16 years and older.

Tidepool Exploration Hikes are for the whole family, any age. We explore the local tidepools in various locations in Orange Co., such as Little Corona and Laguna Beach. We require that all participants wear non-slip shoes and a sense of adventure.

Habitat Tours and Clean-Ups

OCH offers a Habitat Tour and Clean-up to small groups (30 or less).  We will tour you around the specified habitat (beach, riparian, park, etc) and will do a clean-up as we go.  This is great for schools and corporations that need to meet volunteer and community goals.

2019 Wildlife Pouch Party

Dear Friends of OCH,

March 16, 2020

We regret to inform you that we will be cancelling all upcoming events in light of the recent Covid-19 crisis.  We are honoring the CDC recommendations to minimize exposure by cancelling or postponing all of our group events in the coming weeks.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but believe it is in the best interest of everyone to do so.  When the crisis is under control and the CDC gives the green light to resume group activities, we will begin to reschedule our programs.  We will keep you informed of upcoming/rescheduled events when we are back "on the grid".  Thank you for being wonderful advocates for the habitats of Orange County.  Please take care of yourselves, family, and friends in this unique and challenging time.
